Dentist Near Bricktown

Convenient Access from Bricktown

Downtown workers can leave the ballpark district and be in our chair in about 14 minutes, which makes a midday checkup realistic. Shadid Dental Studio has served south Oklahoma City since 1984, and for anyone who works, plays or spends long days in the warehouse district, it is a straightforward choice of dentist near Bricktown. Cosmetic care, gum treatment and crowns finished in one visit are all handled at the same office, Monday through Thursday.

Start at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, 2 S Mickey Mantle Dr. Pull out onto Mickey Mantle Dr, turn right on E Reno Ave, then turn left on S E.K. Gaylord Blvd, which becomes S Shields Blvd heading south. Follow Shields about 4.7 miles, cut west on SW 74th St for a brief hop on I-240 west, and exit back at SW 74th St. Turn left on S Western Ave, right on SW 89th St and right at S Klein Ave to arrive at 1001 SW 89th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139.

The trip measures 7.8 miles with no tolls; downtown rush hour can stretch it. Open Shadid Dental Studio in Google Maps from your desk and the route loads in one tap. Two nearby districts have their own pages: Capitol Hill, south across the river, and Stockyards City, a few miles west.

From Warehouses to Ballpark: Bricktown and Our Practice

Bricktown spans about 50 city blocks just east of the central business district, bounded by Deep Deuce to the north, I-235 to the east and the Oklahoma River to the south. It began as a warehouse district of brick buildings, and by 1980 much of it sat empty. Mayor Ron Norick's Metropolitan Area Projects, known as MAPS, changed that in the 1990s by funding the ballpark and the canal. Today it is the entertainment district on the east side of downtown, in Oklahoma County.

The landmarks tell that story. Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark opened on April 16, 1998, and is home to the Oklahoma City Comets, with statues of Mickey Mantle, Johnny Bench and Warren Spahn outside. The mile-long Bricktown Canal followed on July 2, 1999, with water taxis running its length; Paul Moore's Centennial Land Run Monument stands at its south end. Since December 2018 the OKC Streetcar has looped through the district.

Downtown jobs can make it hard to step away for long. We are open Monday through Thursday from 8:45 AM to 5 PM, so a lunch-hour or early-afternoon visit is the natural fit for downtown workers. Shields Blvd gets you here without fighting the interstate for most of the way.

Our office has kept the same address while downtown changed around it. The building has been renovated several times, and today it runs fully digital, with digital x-rays, electronic health records and flat-screen TVs in the treatment rooms. When it is feasible, the team completes care in a single appointment, which matters when every trip means time away from the job. Familiar faces help too, with hygienists Ginger and Robin and front desk staff Heidi and Tina on the team.

Smile Concerns We Hear From Bricktown Patients

Client-facing work makes people notice their teeth. Coffee, tea and the occasional glass of red wine leave surface stains, and a chipped front edge can feel bigger in a meeting than it really is. Cosmetic care here starts with a cleaning and an exam, because whitening and veneers last longest on healthy gums.

Whitening comes two ways at our office: an in-office treatment or Opalescence Go take-home trays you wear on your own schedule. For a single chip or a small gap, bonding uses tooth-colored resin shaped right in the chair. Porcelain veneers cover stains or uneven edges that whitening cannot change.

Desk jobs and long hours also bring quieter problems. Stress often shows up as clenching, and busy adults often skip a cleaning until a gum or tooth starts to hurt. Gum disease rarely causes pain in its early stages, so a missed year can let it settle in. Scaling and root planing, followed by perio maintenance, brings it back under control.

Fewer trips matter when your lunch break is short. With CEREC digital impressions and in-office milling, same-day crowns are designed, made and placed in a single visit, so you never wear a temporary. New patients without insurance can also begin with the $99 cleaning, exam and x-ray, available when periodontal disease is not present.

What a Dentist Near Bricktown Can Offer Downtown Workers

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Bonding, porcelain veneers, in-office whitening and Opalescence Go take-home whitening. A good fit for Bricktown professionals who want a brighter smile without a long series of visits.

  • Same-Day Crowns

CEREC lets us scan, mill and seat a crown in one appointment. One trip south replaces two, and there is no temporary crown to protect.

  • Periodontal Treatment

Gums that bleed when you brush, pull back from the teeth or smell off are signs of infection. Deep cleaning below the gumline, antimicrobial therapy and regular maintenance visits keep it from spreading, and surgery is reserved for the most advanced cases.

  • Family Dentistry

Cleanings, exams, digital x-rays and oral cancer screenings, plus nightguards for people who clench under deadline pressure. Partners and children can be seen here too.

  • Dental Implants

A single implant, an implant-supported bridge or an implant-supported denture replaces a missing tooth with something stable and natural-looking.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Shadid Dental Studio from Bricktown, and how do I get there?

Our office is about 7.8 miles from Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, about a 14-minute drive. You take E.K. Gaylord Blvd south onto Shields Blvd, hop briefly onto I-240 west at SW 74th St, then follow S Western Ave and SW 89th St. Downtown workers looking at a dentist near Bricktown can reach us without a long highway drive.

Can whitening remove coffee and tea stains?

In most cases, yes. Coffee and tea leave surface and deeper stains that professional whitening lightens well, either in the office or with Opalescence Go take-home trays. Results depend on the starting shade, and whitening does not change crowns, veneers or fillings. Cutting back between treatments, or rinsing with water after each cup, helps the new shade last.

Does stress affect my teeth and gums?

Yes, it often does. Stress commonly shows up as clenching or grinding, which can wear teeth, crack fillings and leave the jaw sore. It can also make people skip brushing, flossing or checkups, which gives gum disease room to grow. A custom nightguard and regular cleanings protect against the most common effects.

How often do adults need dental x-rays?

Adults with healthy teeth usually need preventive x-rays every one to three years, depending on their history. Patients with active decay, gum disease or new symptoms may need them more often. Our office uses digital x-rays, so images appear on screen in seconds, and annual preventive x-rays are included in the Membership Plan.

How long has the practice been in south Oklahoma City?

Since 1984. Dr. Paul A. Shadid began practicing here that year, first as an associate of Dr. John Channer, and the practice has stayed at the same location ever since. It has been renovated several times along the way, and his son now practices beside him.
